Our goal with running a female-owned company is not just to sell great-quality polish 💁🏻♀️ but also to inspire and educate the next generation of female business owners or... BABBS (Bad Ass Boss Bitch). This week we got the opportunity to chat with Amy Acevedo from Robert Half Staffing Company to give insight on what the job hunt looks like and how you can kick ass at your next interview.
The first step to getting a job is beefing up that resume. Don’t be basic, yes it’s nice to know you’re proficient in Microsoft Office, but that’s definitely not a game changer for your future employer. And although pink resumes with perfume sound like an awesome idea, nowadays employers want to see things that are measurable, that display how much initiative you have, like “how you made an impact.”
Now that your resume is dressed to the nines it’s time to start the hunt, tap into your network of friends, family, etc…, “it’s always worth asking.” Jump on LinkedIn and review those connections, don’t be afraid to reach out. You never know what taking a risk could lead to! If I hadn’t taken a risk, I wouldn’t be a member of the LOUD team today.
Ready to NAIL that interview? There are some common sense things like arrive early, ask questions, do research, but whatever you do… DON’T BE A STALKER. Haha but really, it’s a good idea to research your potential employer and current employees to see if you would fit in with their vibe. But whatever you do, don't mention to your interviewer personal things like the color of their kids bathing suit that you found on their social media. And don't DM them on multiple platforms. It's the difference in showing initiative and being "thirsty!"
To add the cherry on top to a great interview, do NOT to forget to FOLLOW UP. Make it simple, 2-3 sentences in an email the same day as the interview, thank them for taking time out of their busy schedule. This will go so far in making you stand out amongst the other candidates, “no need to send a muffin basket!” Although you can send all the muffin baskets you want to Loud. We love muffins. Kidding! Not kidding 😜
And as always, feel free to reach out to any of us here at Loud! Our mission statement is helping Babbs! If you need advice or have questions or just need a "YOU GOT THIS".. any one of us is here for you. Our DM's are always open Babbs!
And last but certainly not least, it is important to know which nail polish is best for your interview. Hint: be yourself. But no really, from a staffing agent, it's actually helpful to know that you can be subtle with Basic but still have amazing nails. Or be a little more daring yet neutral with Pep Rally and stand out. Here is the bundle Amy thinks is great for any interview.
