"I want like something that is almost black, but like also a hint of purple"- David
This was not the plan. The plan was to launch a color for my special brother that he could cherish on this earth. Instead, here we are heartbroken and trying to make sense of a life taken far too soon. All I can think to do now is to try and honor his memory as best I can.
David told me at first wearing nail polish was scary for him... it was potentially "unwanted attention". But soon after wearing it regularly he started to see it as a super power. Because the attention he got was people treating him one way or another for being his authentic self. I am so grateful that he was able to be that authentic self and make an impact on so many. He was such a light in this dark world.
He was also a huge advocate for the LGBTQIA community and it was important for him that kids always had a safe space to go and be themselves. So I hope to carry on that legacy for him and let everyone know that this community will always be a safe place for you too to be your authentic self.
A portion of all of the proceeds of AKA David will be donated to The Trevor Project. An organization that meant a lot to my brother.
